Meet & Eat: Tech Tools for Communication, Collaboration, and Organization

October 31, 2017
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Kinsley Education Center
350 Hill Street
York, PA 17403

Attend in a Halloween costume for a chance at a special prize (see below)!

Join us as we explore Microsoft OneNote and the web-based platform Slack: tech tools that can be implemented for personal and team organization, communication, and coordination.

Ever dream of truly going paperless?

Anne Miller did, because her clean-freak of a husband kept throwing away the recipes she was stockpiling on the desk in their home office. Knowing he could not (and would not) touch her computer, Anne looked for a way to digitally hoard and organize her recipes, and that's when she discovered Microsoft OneNote.  She quickly realized how beneficial the software could be to help her stay organized at work and make information accessible to everyone, all the time. She implemented use of the software at work, first for herself, and then among the marketing team at her office.

Ever Miss AOL Instant Messenger?

Anne Miller did, because she realized that when she yelled to her coworkers across the hall, her voice carried upstairs into the executive suite.  Knowing she should zip it, Anne looked for a way to digitally communicate instantly with her co-workers in a way that she could justify as having a business purpose, and that's when she discovered Slack.  She quickly realized how beneficial the software could be to enhance communication throughout the organization. She implemented a soft launch of the software among the marketing team at her office, and its growth is spreading organically throughout the organization.

Want To Play Along?

Bring your laptop or other device to see how shared OneNote notebooks and Slack channels work!

  • You'll need to have a Microsoft account for sharing a OneNote notebook, and sharing works best in Office 360.
  • Slack is web-based with an optional down-loadable app. No special software needed.

Dress for (Halloween) Success!

Every attendee who attends in costume will be entered to win a $25 gift card to Panera Bread!
