Harrisburg, PA – May 16, 2018

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), Central Pennsylvania Chapter is hosting a reef ball build and networking event to construct concrete reef balls for deployment into the Chesapeake Bay on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Susquehanna Heritage Columbia Crossing River Trails Center in Columbia, PA.

This impactful oyster restoration project is designed to help transform the Chesapeake Bay into a clean water, oyster-friendly habitat. With water filtering capabilities of 50 gallons per day per oyster, restoring oyster populations improve water quality and transform bay floors into thriving marine ecosystems. Following the reef ball build portion of the event, SMPS Central PA is hosting a crab/oyster networking social. Participation has already exceeded expectations. While the build teams are sold out, a few sponsorship opportunities remain that include four build team members each. Dinner-only registrations are also available for individuals.

Members of the media are invited to attend.

Harrisburg, PA
Press Release Date – January 18, 2018

On January 11, 2018, the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), Central Pennsylvania Chapter kicked off the New Year with a transforming celebration at the Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg.

Now as many of you know-this is the time of year where we all reflect and create resolutions to improve our lives. After some discussion on what type of celebration we should have-we thought, “Why don’t we start the year by changing someone else’s life and support individuals in need?” So that’s exactly what we did.

Changing perspectives. Changing lives. That’s what Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is all about. For more than 100 years, BBBS has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation's largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, BBBS makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles") in communities across the country.

We’re grateful that our organization collected a variety of items from the BBBS’s wish list including: scarves, hats, gloves, blankets, gift cards and several goods/services to be used for their matches. But the giving didn’t stop there. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Paragon Engineering matched our monetary donation to BBBS!

SMPS Central PA President, Shawn Barron presented Big Brothers Big Sisters of York & Adams Counties with a donation check of five hundred dollars ($500) to Linda Gorter, Executive Director Of BBBS.
